Male fertility more gradually declines while female fertility declines earlier: a loss of functioning of the hydraulic system for males. Youngest child has birth around the 40-50 year old of the parent: able to transfer capital to grandchild. Evolutionary tradeoffs: metabolic costs of fecundity compete with benefits. Fecundity > dissolving of endometrium, in terms of energy cost.
