There are several types
Internal whistle-blowing: employee reports misconduct to hire up, disclosure is within internal
system.
Personal whistleblowing: may be internal or external, offense is against individual, typically
handled in house but may become external. Ex: uber sexual harassment
Government whistleblowing: government employees divulge unethical practices, may be
divulged to government or public, complications of classified information.
External non-governmental whistleblowing: divulge for moral reasons to change business
practice, makes public necessary information, practice/product is serious threat of harm, greater
public effect.

5 conditions:
3 conditions for permissibility
1. Serious harm to employee/public - more harm than good, certain assessment that harm
will take place
2. Once harm is found, It is reported to higher ups - must exhaust all possibilities before,
no conflict of loyalty, allow for diligence in calculating serious harm.
3. Must exhaust all internal procedures
2 conditions for obligation
1. Have accessible documentation that shows danger and risk - need to show evidence
2. Success likely after public exposure - need to be worth the risk. Ex: woman from yelp

Unconscionable Contracts
Procedural: problem in people forming contract
Substantive contracts: hold exploitative and unfair terms. Ex: hooters (p.377), vulnerable
because lack of ability to respond to threats
Prevents individuals from trading with agreement of firm.
