POLS 110 Lecture Notes - Lecture 4: Unobservable, Heritability, Psychopathology
Document Summary
Impacted by environmental influences e. g. stress, relationships, culture. Extent to which variability in behavior is due to genetic factors. The higher the number, the more that heritability can contribute to the abnormal behavior being identified. Most illnesses are influenced by multiple genes (polygenic) Study of the degree to which genes and environmental factors influence behavior. Just because someone is tall does not mean it is just genetic. The gene needs a good environment in order to allow that person to grow.
