Document Summary
Etiology: the origin or original causes of illness. Pathophysiology: the state of what is happening in the body and mind at the point of illness. Reification: when you put something in a rigid definition. How we try and think about when some pattern of behavior starts to count as illness vs. wellness. Social: built and maintained social relationships; made inferences about others" minds, adjusted behavior. Made judgments about other people and responded accordingly to guide behavior. These domains explain most of what we do. Different strengths and weaknesses, but most are in the middle of a normal distribution in these 4 facets. You are able to engage in activities without experiencing a significant amount of distress, impairment, or atypical behavior. Psychopathology is assessed with criteria of: distress, impairment, atypical/deviant. Subjective distress is a major criteria for diagnosis of major illness. It"s okay if you prefer to not be around other people.
