Assumed to be first slaves from africa. 1 in 2 would die before freedom. Owned white indentured servants and black slaves after. Staring in 1660s poor could find work better. Rape would occur more to have more slaves. Slaves who resist their master should be killed basically. Forced slave owners to pay for slaves they wanted to get rid of. Large tobacco land only owned by rich whites.
