Week 4 (missed the first 10 min class so im not sure what yavis is lol) Internalizing disorders (affects themselves: externalizing disorders (affects other people) Most of these individuals are coming in voluntarily. Interpersonal maturity: cathartisis expression- speaking to someone in a certain way; secrets. e. Insight understanding (meaning/narrative) - understanding themselves and why this particular thing happened to them and everything is starting to make sense; Having a realistic view: opportunity for practice of adaptable behavior. At some point the patient needs to start seeing change. (goal of therapy) Criminal justice- state or federal government is going after you; prosecutors (state or federal); bring charge against criminal defendant: competencies to proceed- to be arrested, sentenced, executed or go to trial. Must have psychiatric disorder to be not competent to proceed. Restorable competence- client will do treatment and then determine if they are competent.
