Document Summary

If excess iron is in the cell it binds to fur activating the repressor holo (fur) When there is no fe present, (fur) is inactive and can bind to dna (apo-fur) When iron is low anti-bfr mrna is created no normal bacterioferritin created. When iron is high fe binds to fur and activates its repressor. (bound to the operator region) When iron is low fur is in an active form and can bind to dna. If fe present , fur:fe represses the transcription of anti-bfr. bfr rna is translated to bacterioferittin. If fe is absent, fur does not bind to the operator and anti-bfr is transcribed. Anti-bfr mrna binds to mrna-bfr blocking ribosome binding and no translation. Positive regulation: mait + maltose, luxr + autoinducer. Global regulation: crp + camp, fur + fe. Catabolite repression: the effect of glucose being present no camp.
