Document Summary

Simplest transposons that contain only a gene that codes for an enzyme and a recognition site. Short inverted repeat sequences of dna that the enzyme recognizes as recombination sites between the transposon and the chromosome. Particular sequence in a genome at which replication is initiated. Helicase (5" -> 3"); breaks hydrogen bonds holding two strands of a double helix together; promotes dna primase activity; involved in primosome assembly. Protein complex responsible for creating rna primers on single stranded dna during dna replication. Bind single-stranded dna after strands are separated by helicases so that the strands don"t come together prematurely. Helicase loader; helps direct dnab protein (helicase) to dna template. Complex of about 20 polypeptides, catalyzes most of dna synthesis that occurs during dna replication; has 3" -> 5" exonuclease (proofreading) activity. Separation of chromosomes upon completion of dna replication. Limited heat treatment that is heated just enough to destory the endospores of clostridium botulinum.
