At this point de gualle was ready to take action if the french desired his assistance. In 1954 france was deciding on whether or not to let de gualle return. He had a lot of support being a national war hero. He returns and asks that he is empowered to act. The 5th republic is born with a better constitution. Commits to fight algerian war and the french eventually lost. The outcome was a single party socialist state.
