Drug is an ingestible substance that has a noticeable effect on the mind or body. Drugs may enter the body through injection, inhalation, swallowing, or absorption through skin or other membranes. Drug users are those who ingest, in some capacity, drugs. Types of illegal drugs: most commonly used: marijuana: comes from the plant cannibas sativa and commonly comes in loose form. Marijuana is usually smoked, but can be eaten. The majority of users are young people; most illicit users are not using it for medical purposes: cocaine: is the most potent central nervous system stimulant. Chapter 16: drugs & crime: methamphetamine: also known as meth, is a street drug that is man-made. It is a stimulant that is derived from over the counter medicine. Drug crime is violations of laws that prohibit or regulate the possession, use, distribution, or manufacturing of illegal drugs.
