Person who lives inside the plantation house with their master (person who owns them). Or, super rich people want to live in a city, not on a farm. House slave could be a cook, a nanny, maid or butler, some kind of servant. House slaves are lighter-skinned and good looking in their home. When they have guests over, they want to show status. Reasons why you might become a house slave. A skill good with kids, good with food, etc. A reward whites believe being a house slave is a reward, the best thing to be. If you do something really good they reward you by bringing you into the house.
