Minoans: someone from minoa, the palace of minos was huge. Mycenaean: took over the minoans, became quite wealthy and powerful, mycenaeans were more militaristic, they established trade routes. Kouros: male nude statue, derived from egyptian art, not a portrait but a symbol of the ideal man, the statues can stand on their own. Lion"s gate: in order to get to mycenae, you had to pass through the lion"s gate, high wall with sculpture of lion, earliest greek sculpture, one of the first pieces of artwork found in the western hemisphere.
