Leonardo focused on light, atmosphere, composition & delocalized colors. Michelangelo used localized colors that chiseled out figures w/ hard chiseled contours in his paintings. Christ on central axis & surrounded in axial-radial composition by the apostles & below them are theologians, saints, and bishops: parnassus. Second way to encounter god is through the arts: the justice wall. Third way to encounter god is through virtue and justice: philosophy (the school of athens) Group of ancient greek philosophers in saint peter"s. Axial w/ emphasis on 2 central figures (plato & aristotle)
