Trade & crowding still a major part of ny. Dutch also open minded, just wanted to make $ Less open minded, british more strict and insistent on citizenship than dutch. Hedonic treadmill- whatever you have is not enough, trying to increase wealth, cycle (like the need to have a birkin) Every subculture tries to pursue pleasure and show wealth.
