Begins with the man who woke up, buddha is one who becomes conscious. Siddhartha gautama is born in modern-day nepal around 500bce: the oracle read that the child would grow up to either be a great king if he experienced no su ering, or a great spiritual teacher if he did. Because of this, gautama is kept in the castle, so he cant experience su ering. When gautama goes into the city, he sees old people and people that are unhappy and is very surprised. He planted himself under a body tree and refused to budge until he received enlightenment, he struggled here for 49 days: here, he refused all temptations and at age 35, gautama becomes. Loss of a sense of experience and teachings, which then devolved to arguments. Lack of divine grace as experiences are understood in religion itself. Pragmatic, teachings are tools to be useful. Egalitarian, women are fully capable of enlightenment.
