The universal declaration of human rights sets out the rights to which we are all entitled to and it sets out the responsibilities of those with power (so called duty bearers" e. g states, institutions, courts etc) 1st generation human rights: response to crimes against humanity, genocide and other abuses against rights e. g ^ 2nd generation human rights: rights of workers, rights of women, rights to non- discrimination and socioeconomic rights. 3rd generation human rights: cultural rights, the rights to development, environmental rights, the rights of people with disabilities, the rights of indigenous peoples.
