How differences in the environment can influence expression of quantitative genes. These differences arise in part because different environments trigger different patterns of gene expression. When an organism experiences stress, for example, it may respond with a change in its level of developmental hormones. The hormones travel throughout the body and bind to regulatory regions of genes.
