Document Summary
Ip address an address to reach every computer connected to a network/internet. In the us, for example, there are thousands and thousands of lans. Each section in an ip address # is called an octect. The idea is to connect every lan so that they could talk to each other. Every computer must have its own ip address. Every lan that hooks to a main router, gets the prexix. If my neighbor hooks up to my main address, they will get 192. x. Every neighbor that hooks to them will get 192. x. y. No two computer have the same ip address. Big people/companies have this, like rice university. Addresses never end in a 0, or 255. In the test, they might ask you which one is a valid address, don"t choose one above 255. An address ending in 0 identifies an entire network.
