We started with geography and how and when this planet got settled by humans. They were immobile and they were restricted to geography. We, human beings, are unique and we did the best we could of the geography. People learned to take advantage of the plants and the animals that they found locally (plants for eating, animals for eating and for various purposes such as transportations- there is a synergy between technology and geography). Most importantly what people derive from the geography came from plants and animals that determine the kind of shelter, clothing, food and essentially the essence of what was life. Species got smarter and used the technology to derive the environment. Mesopotamian (the fertile crescent) had the best combination of plant and animals that led to the form of sustained food production and overtime enabled them to stop being hunter and gatherers. This was one of the great intellectual achievements of human species.
