Torts wrongful actions i. e. assault, trespass originated in english common law now expanded individuals and corporations can commit torts. As new ways to commit wrongs are discovered, such as the internet, courts expand tort law to cover these wrongs. Some torts exist in any context, others are referred to as business torts-wrongful interference with the business rights of others. Two notions serve as basis of all torts: wrongs and compensation (damages) Unintentional torts (torts involving negligence) based on societies evolving concept of duty of care lights in parking lot deep pocket. Assault - any intentional, unexcused act that creates in another person a reasonable apprehension or fear of immediate harmful or offensive contact is an assault. Apprehension a reasonable person would want to avoid it need not be fear woman wearing high heels and cocktail dress at 2:00 am approached my unknown men making highly uncomfortable comments.
