Visionary art museum in baltimore focuses on people who are non-professional and ,asking art outside of the mainstream. The cant have gone to school and usually are separated from society by poverty, mental disability. One can purposefully become an outsider artists once you"re aware of the concept you probably are already on the inside. A di erent reason to make art that artists typically don"t. One guy made minuscule art on the head of a pin. And he had to work in between breathes because it is so delicate. Outsider artists are completely sincere about the art that they make. They don"t make commentary and really just like the wow factor of what they"re making. As a society we know what art is but it"s hard to de ne it. Its aesthetic activity for its own sake, can"t have another purpose. and in the west it"s very speci c and doesn"t apply to other cultures.
