The seasons on mars are similar to earth. Mars does have summer, spring, winter, and fall. However, mars has two additional seasons, aphelion and perihelion. This occurs because of mars" highly elliptical orbit. Mars also divides its time into day and years. Sols (martian solar days) are only 39 minutes and 35 seconds longer than earth days. However coming in at 688 sols, martian years are about double that of earth"s years. in the south on mars summers are hot and quick.
