Document Summary
Conceptual definitions explain what a concept means by relating it to other concepts. Operational definitions explain the concept by how to observe/measure it. Must define a concept operationally to examine it! Conceptual fit: linage between concept and operationalization (weak/strong) Measurement: determining the existence, characteristics, size and/or quantity of changes in a variable. Quantitative measurement: numbers to indicate amounts (e. g. properties and size) Qualitative measurement: symbols (words, diagrams, non-meaningful numbers) indicate non-numeric meanings. Variable is an observable concept the values of which vary.
