Used to be able to go to jail for criticizing religion, swearing in public, etc. Only for the last 70 years have the courts started protecting free speech. This doesn"t protect from private institutions, only from the government. Right to free speech included the right to strongly express emotions. Stopping people from being influenced by religion but really it"s islamaphobia. They should be banning christian crosses as well because of secularism. Would they have made nuns take their coverings off. Poland: banned use of the phrase polish death camp, because it sounds like poland made the death camp instead of dying there. Germany: really liberal, except bans all nazi propaganda. No state can take these away, and the u. s. views free speech this way. Athens: had direct democracy, everyone had a pebble, most pebbles win. Socrates was forced to drink poison for corrupting the youth, by asking the kids to ask questions, why did the gods do this.
