Anorexia Nervosa
Eating disorder characterized by recurrent food refusal, leading to dangerously low body weight.
Apnea
Disorder involving brief periods when breathing ceases during sleep.
Binge
Out of control eating episodes.
Binge-Eating Disorder (BED)
Individuals may binge repeatedly and find it distressing but DO NOT attempt to purge.
Breathing Related Sleep Disorders
Sleep disruption leading to excessive sleepiness or insomnia, caused by a breathing problem such as
interrupted (sleep apnea) or labored (hyperventilation) breathing.
Bulimia Nervosa
Out of control eating episodes, or binges, are followed by self-induced vomiting, excessive use of
laxatives or other attempts to purge the food.
* there are and non purging types. Some bulimics go on fasts.
Cataplexy
Motor movement disturbance seen in people with some psychoses and mood disorders in which body
postures are waxy and can be sculpted to remain fix for long periods.

Circadian rhythm sleep disorder
Sleep disturbances resulting in sleepiness or insomnia, caused by the body's inability to synchronize its
sleep patterns with current patter of day and night.
Dyssomnias
Problems getting to sleep or in obtaining sufficient quality of sleep.
Hypersomnia
Abnormally excessive sleep. A person with this condition will fall asleep several times a day.
Hynagogic Hallucinations
Characteristic of narcolepsy involving frightening and vivid experiences during sleep that are visual,
tactile, aural, and mobile.
Insomnia, primary
Difficulty in initiating, maintaining, or gaining from sleep, not related to other medical or psychological
problems.
Melatonin
Hormone produced by the pineal gland that is activated by darkness to control the body's biological
clock and to induce sleep. It is implicated in Seasonal Affective Disorder and Circadian Rhythm Sleep
Disorder.
Narcolepsy
Sleep disorder involving sudden and irresistible sleep attacks.
