Today we"re going to be talking about consent. Consent is both a complicated topic and an easy one. There are easy rules to follow in regards to consent but the idea of consent and what it entails raises a lot of questions. So i want to start this lecture with a couple thoughts on consent. Because most of us went to a high school that taught us about pregnancy prevention rather than teaching us about sex. And like most topics about sex - in our society - talking about it - is uncomfortable. But just because its uncomfortable doesnt mean we shouldnt talk about it nor does it mean that you can ignore it. Because in our society, especially one that leans toward the patriarchal we are taught a set of contradictions when it comes to consent. We see examples of this from early childhood.
