From the 1790s to 1830s, newspapers were very partisan and expressed the views of political leaders. Advertising in newspaper also started after 1830s. In late 19th century, yellow journalism was popular. Yellow journalism: an irresponsible, sensationalist approach to reporting. In early 20th century, journalism changed with muckraking. Muckraking: criticism and expos s of corruption in government and industries. Convergence: the merging of various forms of media under one corporation.
