Computer science 005 overview (4/11/17: fetch: Control unit goes to address name, copies it, puts it into the instruction register, and implements the program counter: decode: Instruction present in the instruction register is interpreted by the decoder: execute: Control unit sends decoded information as signals to control processing unit, then to the alu to perform math/logic, then back to the instruction register: ram: volatile. Losses information when it"s turned off: faster clock. Not necessarily the best choice: larger cache: slower slows down processor, gpu: graphics processing unit.
