I have no idea about where we, meaning my family or ancestors, came from originally. All i know is that my father and his father and his father"s father all were born and raised in. My grandfather on my dad"s side is half white. His mother was white and married a black man in the early 1900"s, which was a huge deal, so in his household, they never discussed race or anything that could make someone feel different. They wanted their household to be a place of unity, not division. My grandfather said that he remembers his mother talking about scotland or. Ireland but with it being 70-80 years later he is not sure of her decent. But she was still born and raised in washington dc and my grandfather identifies as black. Frederick and katie lyles lived in foggy bottom washington, dc in the early 1900"s and had. Their youngest child is my grandfather edward lyles.
