It is vital to focus on observable actions that can be documented, not inferences which may be falsely applied based on the observer"s personal intuitions. Labels are problematic; the labels you might think apply to someone will not apply to that person in every given situation. Latency: how long it takes for the behavior to occur. Frequency: how many times the behavior is expressed in a given set of time. An individual must be trained to recognize these behaviors when they are occurring and apply techniques to modify their behavior for themselves. Behaviors have an impact on both the physical and social environments in which they are expressed. All behavior is lawful; there is a reasoning behind every expressed behavior, even if the observer or even the person expressing the behavior doesn"t currently understand why. The process: behavior needs to be analyzed before it can possibly be modi ed.
