Neuropsychological markers in combination with specific environmental circumstances, interact to make children vulnerable to developing an antisocial life style. Refers to a tendency to do the opposite of what is being asked of the person. People with apd appear to have been exposed to severe physical punishment that was not contingent on their behaviour as children. Not the same as apd, psychopathy is more severe. Freely use others, don"t think about consequences. Egocentric, deceptive, callous, manipulative, lack empathy, lack emotional depth. Heightened ability to discern vulnerable from non-vulnerable targets than normal population. Environmental: association between early emotional deprivation and psychopathic characteristics in adulthood. Characterized by instability in interpersonal relationships, self-image, and marked impulsivity. Poor social relationships, but inability to tolerate being alone. Alternate between idolizing or demonizing people, no grey area everything is black and white.
