Temenos (enclosure)- the space around the altar, where they make the sacrifices. Noas (the house of the god, same as cella)- the home for the god. Pronaos- then entry room, the room before the naos. Doric order- oldest, most traditional, non-experimental, chunky columns, directly on stylobate, capital is simple. Ionic order- elegant, more adaptable, decorative, has a frieze. Caryatid- stand in for a column, nymph girls. Sanctuary temple- built to house sacred things, focus of building is for the god. Peripteral- columns go all the way around the building. Entablature- the stuff under the roof and above the column. Metope- space between the triglyphs (empty space), often has sculpture. Panathenaic procession (panathenaia)- a procession for the king. Perikles (pericles)- most important leader in athens, rebuilt athens after the sacking, published expenditures list and made everyone feel as they are including of acropolis.
