Also, welcomers, fans, discussions artists, flame warriors, trolls, etc: social identification / deindividuation theory (side) Elimination of visual cues (and anonymity) in cmc makes people more likely to conform to a common social identity. Assume that other people are similar to themselves: shared norms and characteristics. Social evaluations of others tend to be more positive.
