Children and young people 10 17 who may be criminally responsible for their actions. 12% population are juveniles, have limited power to no power in protecting themselves from injustice. The police paint and present this picture to the community and police play a large role by supplying information and crime statistics that have been manipulated so as to show an increase in juveniles" crime. Media see these official pronouncements of crime waves, or depictions of particularly horrendous individual cases, as newsworthy. It does not mean that juveniles are responsible for the majority of recorded crime. Politicians have in recent years become actively engaged in this issue. Aged 10 17 years comprise a minority of all offenders who come into contact with the police. Crimes committed by juveniles are less serious than those by adults. Public is not as vindictive as the media and politicians appear to believe.
