Volcano etna helped aid in the realization that some species are millions of years old due to geology and looking at land/rock formations (old shellfish vs. modern shellfish) Individual was collecting different species for museums and realized, by looking at nature (beetles) that species were different according to their environment. Discuss charles darwin and his theory about evolution. Forested areas, wet and dry, high altitude vs. low altitude. Had physical traits that best suited for getting food in the environment they lived. Species will evolve to what"s best suited for obtaining food pertaining to the environment they lived in. Didn"t immediately publicize his findings due to church.
