Energy Metabolism = the way our bodies store and utilize energy

1. Storage of nutrients with food intake and breakdown of stored nutrients between meals
for energy

Catabolic pathway breakdown of large biomolecules into smaller ones

Fatty acids are taken up by nearby cells. Oxidized to release energy, co2 and h20. Fatty acids can be combined with glycerol to form new triglycerides and stored in adipose tissue. Triglycerides can be broken down in fat cells to yield fatty acids and glycerol (lipolysis)
