Good listener moves body in response to conversation. Focus softly on speaker, and shifting gaze occasionally. Bad eye contact: gazing around the room, staring blankly at speaker. No significant physical barriers between you and the speaker. Desk makes communication a role to role communication. Following: listener needs to follow the speaker, not lead them rather than a human to human one. Door openers: a non-coercive invitation to talk. Sometimes people need to be opened up before they talk. Don"t use door-closers such as giving advice or trying to tell them their experience wasn"t bad, or pushing too hard for information.
