Financial difficulties, even more difficult when family has financial burden. Child is the focus becomes adult, what time of the day for spouse when 24/7 caregiving to special needs child + other children. No special needs called in to do more. Wall street journal thursday june 3, 2004. At age 49, autistic man spends first nights w/o daddy . Daddy was at war, sole caretaker; mother passed away 5 years prior. Son used to go somewhere to have companionship, then return home to daddy = routine. Father knew that his son needs to learn how to be independent in the real world; didn"t want to put this responsibility on his other children didn"t feel like they should take care of the autistic man. Daddy falls sick, goes into the hospital, doesn"t come back > autistic man didn"t understand death. May choose partners like them who don"t want children either. Complicated when 1 wants children, other doesn"t = marital stress.
