Initial field research on which this study is based was carried out in 1985-1987. Who are the wari" (i. e. subsistence strategies, recent history, relationship with their neighbors): european use human blood for medical reasons, so how is it any different from the wari" eating their dead people for religious matters. Why did the wari" used to eat their dead? (pg xvi-xvii and part 2) They did not eat their dead because they liked the taste of human flesh, nor because they needed the meat. Why is the book called consuming grief and what do you think the author means by compassionate cannibalism: consuming as in eating (cannibalism). grief as in the pain people feel when people they know die. The wari" ate their pain which with religious beliefs saved the dead person: compassionate=feeling or showing sympathy and concern for others, the relatives ate the dead corpse for respect to the family of the dead.
