Syntax begins being used by age 2, this is why children more easily learn 2+ languages. Second language acquisition- children have little difficulty learning multiple languages, after puberty it becomes harder. Can be overcome by immersion and language programs. Dialect spoken by an identifiable group of people. Usually stems from limited circulation or interaction of differing parts of the country. Argot- nonstandard language for code, secret language used by various groups. Registers- change of use for certain situations. Pidgin- an auxiliary language for cross-language communication that uses. Jargon- specialized vocabulary of trades or professions vocabulary from on or more languages but has highly variable syntax.
