Document Summary
Discuss the roots of the conflict, its history, the role of the us, and the peace process. Roots of the conflict: both the palestinian arabs and the israeli jews have a strong claim to this land known as israel or palestine. For the palestinians, there"s a right to a state and a desire for self-determination it"s understandable that a people would want their own country. Secondly, the palestinians claim the right to a settled population when jews started moving into palestine, arabs had already been living there for hundreds of years and felt that they were being displaced by an alien group. Thirdly, the palestinian arabs have strong ties to jerusalem, which is considered the third holiest city (central to islamic beliefs). Israeli jews also have strong ties to this territory. There are many muslim, christian, hindu, and buddhist countries, but only one jewish state in the world israel.
