Lower margin of superior rib to upper margin of inferior rib (obliquely downward from sternum towards vertebra) Depresses ribs during forced expiration, stabilizes thoracic wall. Transversus thoracis - hypaxial muscle of thoracic body wall. Levator ani - hypaxial muscle of pelvic body wall. Coccygeus - hypaxial muscle of pelvic body wall.
