● One of the most remote/isolated ethnic groups on earth
● Only speak native language
● Move a lot

● Complex yodeling, polyphony, drumming
○ Polyphony comes through yodeling
○ Influenced by drumming/polyrhythm

Traditional Music of African-AMerican People in the U.S.:
● Forged in America by Africans and their descendants
● Music of worship, work, and play
● Music is something that can transcend
General Characteristics:
● Call + response
● Movement
● Ornamentation + improvisation
