Whenever you provide therapy, you are conducting an experiment. If you understand experiments, you will be able to evaluate if your services are worth the money you charge. You can determine which components of therapy work or do not work. You can skeptically evaluate the claims of other therapies. Each subject is examined before, during, and after treatment. Most psychology experiments are different: subjects are briefly exposed to iv, data across many participants are averaged, treatment effects examined with the aid of statistics. Looking at the treatment impact on the group but we are missing out on the individual effect. Ba"s are more concerned about how the treatment impact the individual, and for those that are not impacted, we are trying to find why and find treatments to work better for that individual. And since we are focusing on one client at a time we literally cant use statistics because statistical analyses need large groups of people.
