Document Summary

T-visas: allow illegal victims to stay to help prosecute the case but they are required to cooperate (testify, lead to evidence, etc. ) with law enforcement in the prosecution of the trafficker. Victim specialist vs victim advocate: specialist does what is best for the case and advocate does what is best for the victim. Intimidating, harassing, or threatening behaviors that would make a reasonable person fearful. First criminalized in ca in 1990 (stalking of celebrities). All states had passed laws on stalking by 1994. Prior relationship stalking is the most common form of stalking. Victim repeatedly receives unwelcome contacts from a known aggressor in a frightening manner. Ga law states that stalking involves behavior/ contact that is intimidating/ harassing and is designed to cause fear in the victim. Note that direct threats of death/ injury are not required for a charge of stalking to be brought against the offender.
