Document Summary

Specific layers: stratum corneum, stratum lucidum, only in palms and soles, stratum granulosum, keratin production, stratum spinosum, stratum basale, single mitotic later, layer pushing cells, up and up. Top layers, you are going to have melanin and keratin. Melanin protecting cells in deeper levels from having genetic damage: provides coloring. When body does not produce melanin, get albinism: lacking enzyme to produce melanin. Specific tissue: areolar connective tissue, fat tissue, few fibers, dense irregular connective tissue, a lot of collagen fibers, ligaments and tendons here. Specific layer: papillary layer, all the finger like projections on the dermis, reticular layer, where the dense connective tissue is. Going to have some glands and some muscles. Easy to get, hard to get rid of. Makes up fibrous capsules that surround organs. Specific tissue: adipose connective tissue: fat tissue. Function: binds, stabilizes dermis, pads, protects body. Epidermal appendages- all coming from epidermis, originate here.
