PSYC 104 Lecture Notes - Lecture 2: Blastocyst, Zygote, Prenatal Development
Document Summary
10/13/17 emotion & motivation: emotion: a positive or negative experience that is associated with a pattern of physiological activity. Measured through multidimensional scaling- have people rate the similarity of many emotional experiences and use a mathematical te(cid:272)h(cid:374)i(cid:395)ue to get a (cid:862)(cid:373)ap(cid:863) of hu(cid:373)a(cid:374) e(cid:373)otio(cid:374)s. Biological-food and reproduction (sex) are most common. Phycological- friendship, respect, search for meaning: drive- internal state that signals a physiological need. Hunger- body needs energy, sends signal to brain to make you feel hungry so that you will eat. Clark and hatfield (1989) had male and female experimental confederates (undercover people), all of average attractiveness, approach strangers of the opposite sex on a college campus. 10/27/17- human development: prenatal development -zygote divides over and over again to form a blastocyst during the germinal stage. Goal is to move along the fallopian tube to stick to uterus wall. Embryonic stage: week 2-8, structures of body are formed.
