All forms of self-denial: repression, to press a bad thought or feeling into your unconscious rape. Bad childhood memories: suppression choose not to remember, regression, to go back emotionally to an earlier stage in life child who sucks their thumb. Mid-life crisis: projection, to deny negative parts of yourself, but see them in other people, being a hypocrite, but not knowing it, throwing your issues on someone else. Alcoholic says, you have a drinking problem. : displacement, misplace or misdirect your anger, hitting or yelling at an innocent person. Sports: reaction formation, to do the opposite of how you really feel. Teasing the person they like: extreme independence.
