Middle class parents: emphasis autonomy and self-direction. Working class parents: emphasis obedience and conformity. Parents treat boys and girls differently: toys, clothes, teach appropriate gender roles/behavior. Conservative protestantism: fathers are more authoritarian, believe in traditional gender roles, spank children more often, hug and praise more often too.
