Document Summary

The industrial revolution had 2 political leftist camps: Liberals supported changes of ir as it brought an end to feudalism. Socialists thought feudalism was being replaced by capitalism (saw that it was more beneficial to produce for the common good than profit from it). Marx - capitalism has internal contradictions - creating dominance of nature to the benefit of humans will cripple nature to cripple humans. > capitalism leans towards ill-treating working-class, creating monopolies will lead people to overthrow it. Sustainable development - attempts to transform nature but by doing so we are exerting control over nature. Radical decentralisation as implemented by soem green groups eludes part of this issue but allows for the market to decide the fate. It"s trapped between reflexivity of the world to shrug off impacts and need for total transform of human society. Even in the french revolution which ended the monarchy returning power to the people did.
